Trail Challenge 2010Green Mesa Ranch Trail Ride Challenge
The first-ever Green Mesa Ranch Trail Ride Challenge was held Saturday, October 23, in Parlin. The horse and rider were judged on their horsemanship abilities over a beautiful four mile course that consisted of 25 natural and man-made judged obstacles including rock croppings, Categories included Open, Pleasure and Novice. First place finishers were: Rita Tupa and Boots in the Open Class, Angie Hornbrook and Misty in the Pleasure Class and Sherry Cleveland and Ella in the Novice Class. The course was a mix of American Competitive Trail Horse Association (ACTHA), and natural ranch obstacles for all levels of ability. The trail ride challenge course offers great views of the Fossil Ridge Wilderness and is surrounded by open meadows and cottonwood trees. Quartz Creek borders the Green Mesa Ranch along with thousands of acres of BLM and public lands. It is truly one of the most unique and beautiful places to ride in all of Colorado.
